It is 1pm and I know where my kids are. I know them by the silence and calm in the car. Which is to say that the plan worked.
We left Seattle at 5am this morning only an hour after our proposed 4 somehow managing to cram almost everything in the car. A good test cause we have as much food as we’ll likely have going into Yosemite.
The kids didn’t really fall back asleep, but the DVD proved its weight already. Episodes of Dinosaur Train and Charlie & Lola saw us under a low fog through Portland and down to Eugene by about 10am. Early!
Stoney recommended this park to me and although he couldn’t remember the name, his description brought us to Skinner Butte Park easily.
And what a recommendation. This one bests ANY park in Seattle. I need to tell the mayor! Eugene right! The coolest play water feature I’ve seen to date. The shoes were off the pants rolled up. We pick nicked and played for 3 hours.
And so the silence has come with kids asleep. We roll southward to our first camp near Cave Junction, OR. The trip has begun!
