We finally took this trip…and it was pretty epic, although “Blitz” it turns out, is a bit of a misnomer. I convinced the advance party to do the hike in at night under cover of stars, howling spindrift, and much darkness. I coolly estimated an approach time of 4 hours, but icy, difficult skinning conditions found us arriving at our destination tired but very happy after 7.5 hours. This approach included tunneling through a cornice, a first ever for yours truly…very exhilarating!
